why graphic design?

At the beginning of the year, I knew immediately the two career paths that I would potentially make my project about. The topic I decided to pick was Graphic Design. Growing up, I looked up to my father as an inspiration, this especially with anything to do computer wise. I remember the first time in my life that I did Graphic Design still to this day, funny enough, I didn't even realize I was creating art, I just thought I was making a thumbnail for a youtube video. I was about 12 years old who was making Fortnite content for fun and I didn't even have any Adobe softwares, I looked up online alternatives and used one of those. Throughout the years of age 12 through 17, I took all the classes through school that was offered to me and I truly didn't find too much knowledge from those classes and in fact was from watching specific youtube videos on what I needed to know for a certain project which really helped me master the softwares.

what to expect: capstone edition

The first time I ever heard in depth of what Capstone was, was when at the end of our junior year, we had a presentation about what the basic overview of what Capstone is. From that presentation alone, it helped formed some basic expectations for me, those first expectations were that I would be working with a Graphic Designer in the industry and potentially working in the office with them viewing how it is to work in a corporate job if that is a route I wanted to take.

I am also glad to say that for the most part, all of my expectations were met through this program. Although the person I worked with was working from home which I wasn't anticipating, I still got to work with someone who has ton of experience and helped me learn a ton of aspects in print designing that I did not know before, more specifically in terms of designing a magazine.

resources

The resources I used during this project were Jerry Manon, who I interviewed about the career, my Graphic Design teacher, Mrs. McPherson, the person who I worked with during my project, Heather Heater, and my photographer for the photos featured on this website, Riley Wells.

after the experience of capstone

My experience in Capstone was like an emotional rollercoaster. Throughout the first quarter, I felt like the class was insanely easy. Second quarter was when things started to ramp up for me as the research paper although should've been easy, was harder because it truly was the first time I had to do some in depth researching to dig deeper than the surface level. Third quarter felt more like an experience because that quarter I was out there learning and completing my project and now in fourth quarter, I enjoyed the process of making this website and presenting as both are something I am super familiar with.
